Vizcom x Zellerfeld
Mule Challenge
Mules are slip-on closed toe shoes that prioritize ease, comfort, and effortless wear. Designers are invited to rethink this familiar form, focusing on clarity of concept while considering how your design could translate to the real world. (Copy provided from Vizcom)
Project Role: Industrial Design, AI Testing, Footwear Design
During my exploration I began developing rugged, outdoor-inspired concepts, then expanded into high-fashion designs and even experimented with the trendy “dad shoes” aesthetic.
Wander Mule
Built for the restless wanderer, this design balances grit with accessibility. The interlocking upper provides a secure, technical feel, while the boulder-inspired sole grounds the silhouette in the raw textures of the earth. It’s tough enough for the trail, but approachable enough for the everyday journey.
Contour Mule
Rooted in the fluid lines of topographical maps, this design is a study in organic modernism. I wanted to push the boundaries of Zellerfeld’s 3D construction to create a silhouette that feels inherently natural yet strikingly sleek. The result is a topographic visual language where the flow of the contours defines the shoe’s modern edge.
Solace Tabi Mule
Inspired by the functional heritage of the Tabi, I set out to redesign it for the modern world. This project is the result of that journey—a lifestyle shoe that honors its roots while prioritizing daily comfort.
